The policy describes the commitment of deckchair theatre to Commonwealth privacy laws and the National Privacy Principles.

Policy Statement
deckchair theatre, in the course of its business, is required to collect and access personal information relating to audience members, staff, deckchair theatre members, and other stakeholders.
deckchair theatre is committed to upholding and implementing measures to ensure the observance of the ten National Privacy Principles contained in the Privacy Amendment (Private Sector) Act 2000. This means that in the course of the business, the organisation will only collect information necessary for the effective delivery of services, with the informed consent of the individuals concerned and only through lawful, fair and non-intrusive means.

- For the reason it was collected,
- For directly related secondary purposes if the individual would reasonably expect these to be the case,
- If the individual gives consent to the proposed use of disclosure, and
- The individual gives consent for disclosure
The overarching objectives of deckchair theatre in the collection of information is to ensure a balanced approach to the expectations of the organisation and those of the individuals concerned.

deckchair theatre will ensure that information collected remains secure and confidential to the staff performing the service for which the information is collected.
deckchair theatre will provide a detailed explanation to clients and individuals from whom information is collected of how it is intended to use the information.
deckchair theatre will provide individuals with access to information held about them, unless the release of this information poses a genuine risk to their health or welfare.
deckchair theatre will not use Commonwealth government personal identifiers for their record keeping systems.
deckchair theatre will observe their obligation, wherever lawful and practicable, to give individuals the option of not identifying themselves in their association with the respective business activities of the companies.
deckchair theatre will only transfer information about an individual outside Australia where there are similar privacy and binding laws, or with the consent of the individual concerned.
deckchair theatre will only collect sensitive information with an individual\‘s consent, unless it is required by law, necessary to prevent or lessen an imminent threat to the life or health of an individual, where the individual is physically or legally incapable of giving consent, or cannot communicate consent.
deckchair theatre will ensure that complaints about alleged breaches of privacy are quickly investigated, but if not resolved by management to the satisfaction of the individual concerned, can then be made by the individual direct to the Federal Privacy Commissioner.
