kd lang
What a phenomenal catalogue of material the Canada native has created. As founder and front woman for her groundbreaking ensemble The Reclines, and through her own brilliant solo career, k.d. has offered some of the most memorable music of our time. Along the way, she has garnered a mountain of awards, including multiple GRAMMYs. In her spare time she does indulge in some abstract landscape paintings, and (I believe) this is the very first of her painting to be sold.

Annette Orr
Last year I was fortunate to participate in a volunteer residency programme at the Warwun Art Centre. In the morning I worked at the art centre, collecting artists? stories, cataloguing, grinding ochres for some of the older artists and making gallons of tea. While I was there Mabel Juli invited me to visit Darrajayn ( Springvale), her parents country. We stopped at a place called Billimack Springs for lunch and I noticed Mabel and her daughter Marlene searching the ground. I thought they must have lost something and offered to help. Mabel told me that Billimack had been a meeting place in the old days and it was possible to find old arrow heads. I looked down at Mabel?s feet and there was an arrow head. Mabel gave it to me as a gift from her country.

Gao Xu Yong
GAO Xu Yong has an intimate knowledge of the essence of painting art. He has come to evolve in his conceptual views and observations of life matters that he reflects in his artworks. He successfully combines Chinese traditional thought of philosophy with modern artistic value, to associate traditional, classic and realism painting skills with modern ingenuity and its techniques. His works are a fusion of and blurring the frontiers between subject and object with an influence of Taoist philosophy (nature) and a profound realism blended with a bit of naïve feeling. Gizella Bosco
The way that Gizella, handcrafted her jewellery came bout was quite unplanned. I have always been involved in various forms of art and craft, my main love being sculpture and jewellery as I am fascinated by form and colour. Penelope Smith-Carter
My interest in art is far away from landscapes as such. I am interested in the expression of people. I feel I have created modern icons: they are fun and meaningful. I see my art as a tonic, a medicine that works on visual response. It gives pleasure with its colour and messages.

I create figurative landscapes. They reach out to every person with their quirky pop art sense.

In 1992 I began selling my art at the weekend cultural markets in Perth. I've recently restored and painted 500 year old icons in Churches located on the island of Corfu, Greece as a gift for the local people. I returned to Australia in 1998 and soon after relocated to the Fremantle markets where I was selling my art work prints and other pieces such as handpainted frames and furniture every weekend. After working on large life-size pieces in Greece I felt compelled to have an exhibtion and present myself as a painter. I want people to recognise me as who I really am, not who they think I am. "The Goddess Speaks" is an extension of myself and every other womans dreams and fantasies. Its about exploring womanhood.
