Emerging Artists Program

Deckchair Theatre invites emerging directors, dramaturgs and designers to apply for its Emerging Artist Program 2010.

The program assists in developing pathways for young and emerging artists after their theatre training, by providing them with practical hands-on experience working on productions at a professional theatre company, learning from experienced senior theatre makers, and mentoring opportunities.

Each year Deckchair supports two artists by providing them with the opportunity to work as an assistant on each core Deckchair Theatre production of that year. In 2010 we have accepted one dramaturg, plus one set & costume designer into the program.

The program also provides opportunities for the emerging artist to develop their own work at Victoria Hall, with structured support and advice from mentors.

Deckchair is looking for theatre artists in the first three years of their professional practice with a demonstrated commitment to making a career in theatre in Western Australia.

Applications for the 2011 Emerging Artists Program will open late 2010. Watch this space for further details and updates.
